Accreditation Approved With Immediate Effect
Today, the Cab section of Unite the Union at a council meeting in the parish halls won an historic landmark in its dealings with Glasgow City Council, We won the right after nearly two years of jumping through hoops, sending letters, going to meetings, and countless phone calls to represent our members at the table with Glasgow City Council.
This in effect means that, Unites cab section can now represent more than ten percent of Glasgow’s licensed Taxi operators who are either members of the cab section, or have filled in a mandate asking the cab section to represent them at all council meetings relating to Taxi's.
It's been a hard slog, and no doubt there's more hard work still to be done, this is only the beginning and it's going to be a long road still to travel, but we will get there in the end......Many thanks are due to the diligence and hard work that the committee and the members put into this campaign...gentlemen and ladies...I salute you all....

As you have said Eddie at 1.45pm on Thursday 22nd. of March the Lic.& Reg. committee granted the Glasgow Cab Section full recognition.
My self and a few other members and committe attended the parish hall at 9.30 am. and sat through all the licence applications and as we were second on the agenda it was a long day.
When it was our turn Mairi Millar read out the appeal to the councillors and without the branch having to speak the councillors granted our motion and councillor Docherty chair of Lic. & Reg. welcomed " Our brothers and sisters from Unite".
It has been a long road but we got there in the end and now the hard work starts.
I would like to thank all the members for their support over the past few years.
